I miss burritos from Gordo’s on College Ave (Berkeley), good coffee from Peets (favorite one across from the MoMA), sushi from Geta on Piedmont Ave (Oakland), thai food from Little Plearn on Shattuck Ave (Berkeley), black bean cakes from Chinatown (SF), salvadorian food, Smart Alec’s tuna sandwich and air fries on Telegraph Ave (Berkeley), Korean, Brazil Cafe’s mango smoothies (Berkeley), fro yo from Yogurtland, Yogurt Park on Durant Ave (Berkeley), La Boulange’s oatmeal and fruit off Market (SF), Barney’s veggie burger, Santa Fe salad, curly fries and oreo milkshake, In N’ Out secret veggie sandwich and milkshake, tuna salad from Crepevine on College Ave (Oakland), Manpuku sushi on College Ave (Berkeley), La Mediterranee vegetarian middle eastern platter (Berkeley), The Cafe (my best friend’s dad runs it and that’s what we call it) a hot #3 with lime italian soda, a ‘Bowl of Soul’ from The Naked Lounge (Chico), Frankie’s Pizza at 3 am (Chico..so college)…..Um, yeah. I like eating out and making the people who own each restaurant like members of my family. On first name/face/history basis with 4 of the places mentioned. I’m known as the “tall daughter” at Geta and my mother cried into the arms of the woman who runs Gordo’s. My best friends dad tells his employee’s to treat me like his daughter (love you, Papa Mendoza). Restaurants mean a lot to me.
